As parents the choices we make can either reinforce or subvert the status quo.  In Oakland, like many cities, we have a choice system which largely reinforces segregation in our schools and mirrors the segregation in our neighborhoods.  In collaboration with Oakland's Integrated Schools Chapter, Equity Allies has been working to engage parents nearing transition years to intentionally think about how they can approach the question of where to enroll their children in school in ways that promote equity.
